Terminal Operator

The role

The Terminal Operator executes operational tasks related, but not limited, to loading and discharging activities, product movements, product handling and storage in general and monitoring of the terminal assets. Main objective is to serve the customers as fast and efficient as possible in a safe and environmental sound way.

As the Terminal Operations Department consists 4 shifts working on a 24/7 basis, a Terminal Operator works in a rotating shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Operations: The Terminal Operator is responsible for excecuting all the operations of the terminal and ensures that all equipment, systems, and processes are functioning properly and in compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Product Movements: Terminal Operators execute all the product movements of the terminal to ensure safe and accurate deliveries. This involves using various equipment such as pumps, valves, hoses, and meters.
  • Storage and Inventory Management: Terminal Operators are responsible for managing storage tanks and warehouses within the terminal. They monitor inventory levels, conduct inspections, and ensure proper storage conditions for different types of products or materials. This may include managing product segregation and following specific handling procedures.
  • Quality Control: Terminal Operators perform quality control checks to ensure that products meet the required specifications. They may conduct sampling and testing of products.
  • Safety and Security: Terminal Operators prioritize safety and security within the terminal. They enforce safety protocols, provide training to staff, and conduct regular safety inspections. Terminal Operators also implement security measures to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or damage to the facility or its contents.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Terminal Operators maintain accurate records and documentation related to operations, inventory, safety incidents, and regulatory compliance. They generate reports on activities, performance, and incidents as required by management or regulatory authorities.
  • Emergency Response: Terminal Operators are trained to act as first responders in case of emergencies such as spills, leaks, fires or accidents. They follow established emergency procedures, coordinate with relevant authorities, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, protect personnel, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Terminal Operators perform basic maintenance tasks and inspections on equipment, machinery, and infrastructure within the terminal. They identify and report any maintenance or repair needs to ensure operational efficiency and prevent equipment failures.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Terminal Operators stay updated with applicable regulations and industry standards. They ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety guidelines, and other legal requirements. This may involve maintaining permits, conducting audits, and implementing necessary corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Technical School or Technical Diploma
  • 2 to 3 years general working experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English language, both verbal and written
  • IT literate with excellent use of Microsoft Office
