1.  Analyst Position (Cyber Security)

Cyprus Research and Academic Network (CYNET) is pleased to announce the opening of a position for the Cyber ​​Security Incident Response Team for Academic and Research Bodies (CYNET-CSIRT). The CYNET-CSIRT team will add value to the existing National CSIRT-CY, which concerns the critical infrastructure of the Central Government of Cyprus, by setting up an equivalent counter-attacking group dealing with educational and research bodies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reports and performs her/his duties under the instructions of the Head of CYNET-CSIRT
• Carries out all work on CSIRT operation / services, which will be assigned to her/him by the head of CYNET-CSIRT
• Manages / coordinates actions on security incidents and registers security incidents forwarded to CYNET-CSIRT
• Investigates incidents filed by CYNET-CSIRT related to risk and safety
• Supports CYNET-CSIRT user service teams in restoring infrastructure and services after catastrophic events
• Prepares reports on all incidents filed by CYNET-CSIRT
• Prepares training material, information material and technical manuals
• Informs / trains CYNET-CSIRT staff
• Has knowledge and complies with all CYNET-CSIRT operating procedures
• Collects information on security incidents and electronic evidence
• Performs any other duties assigned to her/him
• Works around a flexible schedule when needed

Academic-Professional Qualifications / Work Experience:

• First degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or other related fields
• Professional certification in areas related such as CCNA Security, COMPTIA Security +, SSCP, CEH, or equivalent, will be considered an advantage
• Experience in relevant fields (ICT) will be considered an advantage
• Postgraduate in the fields of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Electronic Engineering / Telecommunications or other related disciplines will be considered an advantage
• Very good knowledge of Greek and English language
• Good presentation skills
• Previous experience in a similar position will be considered as an additional qualification

Salary: €2.000 (based on experience and qualifications)

2.  Software Developer

The Cyprus Research and Academic Network (CYNET) is seeking to recruit an experienced and capable Software Developer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the software implementation, version control system and the implementation of a software methodology in the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programmes
• Developing software based on design under supervision and guidance
• Deploying software tools, processes and metrics
• Taking responsibility for own tasks, estimate and track them
• Learning and developing skills and knowledge alongside senior members of the team
• Opportunity to review and improve APIs / Design/ Implementation
• Knows about Agile/XP/Scrum methodology
• Uses Git/SVN version control
• Knows about Rest/Soap apis
• Developing quality assurance procedures
• Identifying areas for modification in existing programmes and subsequently developing these modifications

Academic-Professional Qualifications / Work Experience:

• BSc in Computer Science, MIS, Electronics/Computer Engineering
• 2-4 years’ experience with Linux OS (Ubuntu or CentOs)
• C++ or at least C experience 1 – 2 years
• PHP
• Python
• JS
• HTML 5
• CSS
• Understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Object – oriented programming
• Previous experience in Developing UI applications
• Multi-threaded/ multi – process development
• Teamwork skills

Other Preferred Experience:

• Experience in Java and Spring Framework
• Cross-platform development
• Understanding of network protocols
• Scripting (perl / bash)
• Understanding cryptography
• Deep understanding of either Linux, or Windows OS
• Database design
