Minimum Qualification Requirements:



A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.

Any experience working with commercial pools and aquatic facilities is a plus.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Pool Technician will oversee and perform a variety of tasks in the operation, maintenance, cleaning in and around public aquatic facilities; train and idrect the work of assigned part-time, seasonal staff or full-time staff. Operates and maintains power equipment and hand tools. It is a big advantage if you have some knowledge of swimming pool chemistry, pool equipment installation, knowledge of pool plumbing, maintenance and repair. Full comprehension of operation and technical aspect of pool equipment including but not limited to pool water chemistry / water balance parameters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs duties that are generally routine and repetitive in nature and performed following established procedures

  • Maintains pool chemistry and circulation at proper levels

  • Performs water tests, calibrates automation, and trains designated staff in procedures

  • Maintains pump room equipment, pumps and motors

  • Inspects and maintains chemical feed system; pool fittings, hardware, pool covers, and waterslide

  • Performs monthly facility safety inspections

  • Routine field documentation and site reports to be completed on a daily basis

  • Handles all pool chemicals safely

  • Coordinates the maintenance, renovation, construction and inspection of swimming pools

  • Assists in establishing and coordinating an annual preventative maintenance program for the pool facilities

  • Provides initial response to calls for service from pool staff, assesses maintenance needs, and takes corrective action

  • Participates in the development of the operating and capital improvement budgets and estimates material labor cost figures for pool operations, construction, and maintenance

  • Maintains pool plans, technical specifications, and other maintenance or construction history on all pools

  • Establish relationships and interaction with vendors, contractors, and customers

  • Requests for orders of supplies, conducts inventories, and maintain purchase records

  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service

Ability To:

  • Work with chemicals or similar solutions such as liquid chlorine, muriatic acid, and soda ash using personal protective equipment

  • Perceive the full range of the color spectrum, such as when working with electrical wires or water testing color comparators

  • Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the customers, contractors, colleagues and the public

  • May operate a mobile application software for maintenance and project management programs

  • Working safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others

  • Climb ladders or steps, such as getting onto roofs and sump pits if required

  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements and temperatures up to a maximum of 39 degrees celsius

  • Move objects weighing 25kg or more for distances more than 20 meters

  • Operate power driving construction tools and equipment

  • Read, write and speak Greek or English

Work Environment:

Employees in this position will typically perform the majority of their duties and responsibilities in an outdoor environment and be exposed to varying climate conditions. Employees may perform work alone or as part of a team; be subject to callout, or work a varying work week. Employees may be exposed to: varying noise levels, dust, fumes, and hazardous chemicals found in a pool treatment process. Employees may perform work on a slippery or uneven surfaces, on ladders or scaffolding, and equipment with moving parts.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. The position requires strength and mobility to operate hand and power tools, mobility to drive a motor vehicle to various pool sites; stamina to perform sustained physical labor including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 30kg with proper equipment.

Employees are required to perform tasks regarding relatively high degree of physical strength and endurance, reach above and below waist level, have bodily movement adequate to climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, communicate clearly in person, by telephone, have vision adequate to read fine print and have manual dexterity to safely use equipment and tools. Specific vision required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Licenses and other conditions of employment:

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid European driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is a condition of initial and continued employment in this position

  • Criminal Justice and Background Clearance from the National Police Service of the Republic of Cyprus
