Airside Manager is responsible for assuring optimal operational performance for airside activities. You will be the key touchpoint between your business line and the station manager and support them in the mid- and long-term planning process as well as the day of operations to achieve operational excellence. Your most important quality is the ability to work together with your team, enabling our supervisors and duty managers to deliver high quality service to customers daily. The profile combines operational know-how with people management skills as the Airside Manager needs to motivate and develop the team steering the operational execution on the day of operations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Responsibility
- Accountable for Swissport Customer Service and operational delivery at the airport for the specified business line according to the agreed contract and Service Level Agreements (SLA)
- Manage contracted services providers (cleaning, loaders, staff transport, drivers, aircraft dispatching, pushback operation, load control) towards ensuring that Swissport standards are upheld and that performance is in line with Standard Level Agreements
- Support Station and Duty Managers in managing day-to-day operations and take leadership position during conflicts and critical Irregular Operations (IRROPS) situations
- Manage operational and financial performance / Company’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as outlined in the Station Management Manual (SMM) through company’s reporting tools (DCM, Power BI)
- Steer operations through targeted continuous improvement actions
- Implement, maintain, and closely supervise all safety and security measures related to people, equipment, facilities and aircraft involved in the operation
- Conduct full investigations on irregularities, accidents, or complaints as per our standard reporting requirements (lead investigations, put in place corrective measures)
- Conduct and complete Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) inspections, safety walks and audits as required
- Play a key role in the local emergency plan
- Responsible for establishing operating procedures that involve interactions between departments and/or interactions with third parties
- Other duties as assigned by Station Manager related to airside business line
Leadership Responsibility
- Serve as direct line manager for Duty Manager teams within business line
- Manage station attendance and absenteeism in line with station cost control measures
- Participate in recruitment / major disciplinary actions (supported by the HR)
- Accountable for workplace accidents and incidents
- Lead, motivate and manage staff to deliver the agreed performance objectives and standards
- Develop, maintain and own business line’s talent mapping and succession plans
- Take ownership for creating a progressive open and feedback culture by managing the performance and development of employees
- Ensure all Swissport employees are familiarized with the Code of Conduct. It applies to all employees of the entire Swissport Group
Commercial Responsibility
- Build and maintain relationships with various regulatory authorities and customers and serve as single point of customer contact for operational queries
- Support station manager in providing inputs around local complexities for budgets, Request for Proposals (RFPs)
Support Functions Responsibility
- Co-ordinate with Resource planning and pre-allocation before rosters are published to assure proper coverage
- Manage /co-ordinate operations with Operations Control Center (OCC) to ensure required resources are available in order to deliver consistently high standards
- Proactively plan with fleet management equipment phase out and provide input with regards to budgetary provisions for new purchases and equipment specifications based on activity levels, operational requirements and economic feasibility
- Accountable for the strategic workforce planning and training compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- Five plus years of managerial experience in the ground handling operations with strong focus on procedural compliance, safety practices and continuous improvement processes
- Strong knowledge of Ground Service Equipment
- Strong knowledge of ground and passenger handling operations and services

- The nature of this position demands discretion, good judgment and prompt, accurate decision-making, as well as the management of complex situations, being able to work under pressure
- Outstanding Greek and English communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal and presentation
- Ability to handle company’s computerized Operational, Planning and Reporting Tools and to operate any other required company’s application
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
